How To Add An Alternate Method for O365 MFA

Body

NCC employees can access their Microsoft Outlook email by logging into the MyNCC Portal and selecting the Employee Email tile. If you need help logging into the MyNCC Portal, review our helpful Knowledge Base article, MyNCC Portal Login How-to, or submit a MyIT Support request.

Once logged in to Outlook email, select the circle in the top right-hand corner of the page (most likely your initials reversed or an icon you’ve uploaded).

  • Select View account
  • Select Security info
  • Select + Add sign in method

Select the down arrow and choose your additional methods. The choices will vary depending on what you’ve already set up. Follow the prompts to add the additional method.

  • Alternate phone - use this to enter your home phone number or another number that the system can call.
  • Office phone - this allows for phone numbers with an extension. Use this to enter your work number.

When using a calling option instead of a text, you will receive a telephone call from Microsoft and will be prompted to hit the # sign. Usually it asks you twice so don't hang up until the recording says it's been successful.

To change the Default sign-in method, select “Change” at the end of the Default sign-in method line, select the down arrow to explore your options.

The next time you’re prompted to perform MFA, you will be given a choice of which method to use for that session. The default method will be at the top of the list.
