What's New with the Microsoft A1 License?
Effective August 1, 2024, Microsoft is updating its licensing for schools, impacting features available to students. With the new A1 license, students can access Microsoft 365 services online, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, via a web browser. However, direct installation and use on personal devices will no longer be possible.
How to Log In and Use Microsoft Web-Based Apps:
- Go to www.office.com and click "Sign in."
- Enter your student email address and Microsoft password.
- If you don't remember your password, click "Can't access your account?" and follow the steps.
Note: If you're a current student and haven't registered for Microsoft Office yet, visit the Office 365 Education website to sign up:
- Click the "Get Started" button.
- Enter your NCC student email address.
- Click "Sign up."
What’s Different Between Online Apps and Desktop Apps?
The popular apps – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote – are available online, but some desktop apps aren't. Additionally, the online versions lack some advanced features of the desktop versions. For more detailed information on these differences, check the Office for the web service description.
Want to Use Desktop Applications?
If you wish to continue using the desktop versions, you can purchase a license yourself. Explore "Buy Microsoft 365 Personal" and "Buy Microsoft 365 Family" for more options. Please note that these are personal licenses, and NCC does not provide them.
